Rodney Butler - Thumb

Rodney A. Butler serves as Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council as of January 1, 2010.  Mr. Butler has served on the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council since January, 2004. In January, 2005, Mr. Butler was elected Treasurer of Tribal Council. During his tenure on Tribal Council, Mr. Butler served as chairman for the Tribe’s Housing and Judicial Committees, and chairman for the Finance Committee during his tenure as Tribal Council Treasurer. Raised in Montville, Connecticut, Councilor Butler graduated from Montville High School and from the University of Connecticut with a degree in finance. While at the university, he played Defensive Back for the Huskies’ football team. Chairman Butler is a former financial analyst at the Tribal Nation’s Foxwoods Resort Casino. He later became Chairman of the Tribal Business Advisory Board, a position he held before his election to Council. The Tribal Business Advisory Board oversees the portfolio of non-gaming assets owned by the MPTN. Mr. Butler was actively involved in the resort expansion at Foxwoods, as well as the Phase VII housing development on the Reservation, and presently is focused to ensure long-term stability for the tribal government and its enterprises.

Mr. Butler is the founding Trustee of the Mashantucket (Western) Pequot Tribe Endowment Trust.  Mr. Butler is currently Co-Chair for the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut, serves on the Board of Trustees for Roger Williams University, is a Director on the Board of the Mystic Aquarium, and a Board Member for the Southeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce.

Fatima DamesFatima Dames is the Vice-Chairwoman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council as of January 2012 and is serving a 3-year term which began in January 2011.  This is her second term on Tribal Council having previously held a Council seat for one three-year term which began in January 2001.  Vice-Chairwoman Dames holds a Paralegal Certificate from the Center for Legal Studies, Bachelor of Science Degree in Legal Studies, and a Masters of Arts Degree in American Indian Studies with a concentration in Federal Indian Law from the University of Arizona.  She has also worked for Tribal Council as a Special Assistant dealing with Legal Affairs and was a member of the Tribes Education and Judicial Committees, Peacemakers Council, as well as the Constitution Review Team, and Election Team.  Vice-Chairwoman Dames was recently appointed Chair of the Tribe’s Economic Development and Education Committees.  She is a strong advocate for Civil Rights and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Marjorie Colebut-JacksonMarjorie Colebut-Jackson is the Secretary of the Tribal Council as of January 2010.  Ms. Colebut Jackson has served on the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council since January 1, 2005, and is the Chairwoman for the Tribe's Health and Human Services and Judicial Committees, as well as Co-Chairwoman of the Family Protection & Reunification Team. In addition to her committee work, Ms. Colebut-Jackson dedicated herself to the following initiatives: Providing balance and accountability to the Tribe's cultural integration initiatives, Sustainability for the Tribe's Mission Statement, improvement for internal communications, facilitation of the Tribe's Unity Campaign, development of tribal members' maximum human potential, and support for the Tribe's Council for the Advancement of Youth.  Ms. Colebut-Jackson's previous community involvement included serving as chairwoman for the Tribe's Pequot Pharmaceutical Network board of directors, followed by her appointment as President of Pequot Pharmaceutical Network responsible for the oversight of tribal community and employee health care and management of the Tribe's pharmaceutical business.  Presently she is a corporator of Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and also serves on the boards of Elderly Housing Development & Operations Corporation and Futures for Children.
Steven Thomas - ThumbSteven J. Thomas is the Tribal Council Treasurer as of January 2012 and is serving a 3-year term which began in January 2010.  Mr. Thomas began employment with the Tribe as staff support in the Parks and Recreation Department from June through September, 1993. Mr. Thomas then began a 15-year career in Environmental Services and Natural Resources Protection. He was appointed as the Tribe’s Erosion Control Manager for Environmental Services from April 1994 through May 1995. Mr. Thomas was appointed to Associate Director for the Tribe’s Natural Resources Department from May 1995 through May 1996 and was later promoted to Assistant Director beginning in May 1996 through May 2008. He served on the Tribe’s Finance Committee from January 2009 until his election to the Tribal Council, and has also provided staff support for the Mashantucket Pequot Leasing Company Board. Mr. Thomas is currently Chair of the Tribe’s Finance and Housing Committees.
Crystal Whipple - ThumbCrystal M. Whipple is a member of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council serving a three year term which began January 1, 2010. Ms. Whipple is a graduate of the University of New Haven with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. Most recently, Ms. Whipple served as Chairwoman and previously Vice Chairwoman for the Tribe’s Business Advisory board; an executive management team responsible for the oversight of all non-gaming enterprises and commercial property owned by the Tribe. Ms. Whipple ascended to leadership through nineteen years of diverse employment within the tribal government including the Tribal Manager's Office, Chief of Staff's Office, a Tribal Councilor's Office and the Pequot Pharmaceutical Network (PRxN). As a councilwoman, Ms. Whipple serves as chairwoman to the tribe’s Administrative Support and Historical and Cultural Preservation committees. Her previous tribal government committee experience includes the Tribe's Child Protection Team, Parent Advisory Board for the Tribal Child Development Center, Education Committee and Housing Committee. Mrs. Whipple is married to Thomas Whipple, Sr. Together they have four sons.
Roy Colebut-IngramRoy Colebut-Ingram is a member of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council serving a three year term which began January 1, 2012.  Mr. Colebut-Ingram is a graduate of Mitchell College with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a concentration in Professional Studies and Marketing. Most recently, he served as the Executive Director of Advertising at Foxwoods where he worked for more than five years.  Mr. Colebut-Ingram serves as chairperson to the Tribe’s Parks and Recreation and Public Safety committees.
Steven ColebutSteven E. Colebut is a member of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council serving a three-year term that began January 1, 2012. Mr. Colebut first gained interest in Tribal Government when he was a member of a community-organized group, The Rising Spirits, which focused on government transparency, increasing community involvement and tribal member equality.  In 2003, he began working within the tribal Chairman's office as a special assistant and was eventually promoted to an executive assistant.  Since then, Mr. Colebut has served as special assistant and most recently executive assistant to current Treasurer Steven Thomas. In his collective years as a staff member to Tribal Council, Mr. Colebut has worked closely with many different committees either as a committee member or as support staff.  Mr. Colebut currently serves as Chairman of the Tribe’s Community Planning and Natural Resources committees, as well as Chairman of the MPTN Utility Authority.
